CogAT

The CogAT allows comparisons of the performance of DeKalb students with the performance of other students in the state/nation, of the same age, who took the same test, at the same time of the year.
Results are used for program qualification for Gifted. Results are also used to determine student need for supplemental services, such as SST, RTI and Exceptional Education.

ACCESS

The testing is mandated by the federal government and includes all students who are identified as English Learners (ELs), whether they are receiving services or not. The test is called ACCESS (Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State to State). S Students will be tested in the areas of: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The entire test takes approximately 2½ hours and will be administered on several different days Results from the test will assist us in planning instruction for your child. After the Dekalb County School District receives the results, parents will be notified.

MAP Testing

MAP Testingis an assessment that helps teachers evaluate student academic growth and plan academic lessons.  MAP Testing is done at the beginning, middle, and end of each school year.  Students scores are reported individually and each test is designed to meet that student's needs.
